Today we worked on our College Exploration Project in the Library. You should be well into putting your actual presentation together. Remember, one of our goals with this project is for you to be able to conduct research about a topic/subject, pull out the important facts and details, and then present it in a neat, orderly, and understandable manner.
Also, remember that you should be looking at programs at each college/school that you are interested in. A business degree at one school may have different classes and opportunities than at another school. You should be looking at your options and finding out as much as you can about the schools that interest you.

• Today I handed back the graded comparative essays. 
• **You need to make sure you are turning in your work. It is almost impossible to pass a class if you do not turn in work to be graded. If you are missing something, make sure you get it turned in!!**
• After the writing prompt and our discussion on the comparative essay and turning in your work we went to the computer lab to finish our brochures.

•  Today we started a career and college exploration unit. 
• Our first project is a tri-fold brochure/portfolio.
• Here is a copy of the assignment: Brochure/ Portfolio project
• Make sure you are looking at degrees you would need in order to begin working in a specific field or career choice.
• Which colleges/universities provide degree options that would get you to your end point?
• Think outside the box when you look at the various paths to the careers you are interested in.
• For example someone interested in nursing may look at a military option. The military will pay for you to go to school and get a degree in nursing in exchange for your service in whichever branch of the armed forces you have chosen.

• Today we edited our Beowulf research papers and rewrote them in the computer lab. 
• If you did not turn in a rough draft you received a zero for a grade on it. Please make sure you finish and turn in a final draft.
• The final draft of the revised Beowulf research paper will be due Thursday, September 12th.
